Recently a Grade 10 student reported that her ELA 10 is 97%. Out of four reading comprehension tests in school, she got 100% on three tests and 94% on the other. How did she achieve this? Simply by following the 4 steps in While-Reading. The four steps are as follows: 1. Understand the question correctly by highlighting the important words from the question. If you don’t know what the question is asking, don’t do it. 2. Locate the right information in the text using the synonyms of the important words from the question from step 1. 3. Understand what is found in step 2. 4. Come up with your own answer, then pick the one that is the closest to your answer from the options. Yes, don’t focus on the choices, instead on the steps. By following the steps, you will be very clear and confident that you have the right answers.
